Mixing Armor types, Do or Don't?
(to all moderators I tried searching, button not working)
Hey guys, Some of my friends in gw say that its best to mix the armor types for warriors. Is this true? My warrior is at Lion's arch but a friend rand me to Droks. We all know how expensive the armor is and I don't want to buy it until I have some advice from you all. So far I think I like the Gladiators because of the + energy factor. Which type do you guys think is the best "all around" for the rest of the missions? Should I get a particular set of armor? or Should I mix it up? and if so which combos? ( I have all of my gold and mat) Thank you guys, Athis |

i always have at least knights gauntlets mixed with all my armor types for the reduced damage. Also buy +1 axe mastery or whatever magic or weapon you use for a helm. The strength and tactics ones are a waste most of the time.

A lot of the mods are global and non stacking so mixing and matchign never hurts. the famous Glads with knight's boots or gauntlets is an example of this. You get the same damage reduction form just the boots or gauntlets as you would for wearing the entire set. So you might as well get the extra energy and the damage reduction and have the best of both worlds.

Although I hate mixing (since it just looks ugly in this game)
Lots of people buy Gladiator and then just the boots or gloves of Knights armor. Pleople believe that the one piece of Knights armor manages to absorbe damage does not matter where you are hit. But some say (there is a thread around here somewhere) that with the last patch Anet fixed that and now the damage is locational. So if you have Knights gloves and get hit in the waist then the gloves wont absorbe the damage anymore. If you are worried about this and do not care about energy then go full knights. On the other hand, lets take Mesmers for example, a piece of coutly armor will provide +15 armor while casting. So u just have to wear the gloves. I have the enchanter for energy but have the noble (which is 15k courtly) for the +15 armor while casting. Hope that helps. |

It wasn't fixed. Knight's/Ascalon is still global.
Anyway - 99% of warriors now use: Axe Helm (or Sword helm if thats your favor) Glads chest Stonefist Gloves (Everyone and their mom runs a knockdown skill now,its FOTM warrior, Bulls Strike usually) Glads legs and Knight's boots (for -dmg) |

Ok I understand the armor deal now.
I have tried hammers, axes, swords, ect. I will probably stick with swords as my primary weapon. Which Runes do you guys recommend on my armor? |

Well I'd go for the good old fashioned stand by. Superior Swordsmanship on your helmet. Superior absorb and superior vigor. Expensive but generally that will do it for a warrior. Luckily prices on the latter two superiors have fallen a bit recently so it's not totally out of reach.

Take the ele armour, going by what you said then if you wore 1 pyro, 1 aero, 1 geo and 1 hydro you'd have 75 to all the elements regardless of where the damage hit. Same goes for ranger armour, it just doesnt make the slightest bit of sense as it would completely eliminate the use of the full set. |

Not replying to Evilsod, by the way. to the person about the +15 while casting gloves. Anyway, I wear: Headgear: (Usually +1 in the weapon I use and Superior rune) Body: Gladiator's plate Legs: Gladiator's leggings Gloves: Stonefist Gaunlets Feet: Knight's boots (Rumor that it's local now, but who care if it is or isn't. Feet armor is much better than +1 energy) Last edited by Hurricane; Apr 01, 2006 at 08:16 PM // 20:16.. |

for rangers i love the look of druids 15k
i love the enegy bonus of it too. but alot of times i mix the top with +15 armor vs fire and +15 armor vs cold pieces (like gloves and boots) for the esthetic reason, all the armor pieces i have is 1 color (hot pink) so at least its always 1 color. for runes i do the folowing: each type of armor piece is same rune (all vests are +1 exp, all gloves are +hp etc) so when i mix my build rtemains the same. i also got 2 masks, both with satcking marks mode, 1 of them is sup marks(-75hp) and the other minor marks, so if my dp goes up to 30% or im not using the +hp bow, i swich masks to get the 75hp, until dp goes away to 15%. works very well, especially if need to change armor during quest Last edited by Maria The Princess; Apr 02, 2006 at 04:49 AM // 04:49.. |
